elinur asked: Hello Cherika!

It's so awesome to know that you collect batik prints. I supposed you're Indonesian? I'm a Singaporean and getting a wider range of batik prints is really hard to find. I've always dreamed of going Indonesia to explore all about batik prints and it's origins there. Browsing through books about them is not as exciting and fun as being there and feeling the fabrics and talking to people who digs batik as much as i do!

Anyway, I'm really curious what do you do as a traditioncal fabric enthusiast. I mean, do you just collect them? What else do you do? I'm really interested (:

Btw, I'm Elinur, nice to bump into your Tumblr!

Hello Elinur!

I’m really happy knowing that there are more and more young people from outside Indonesia who want to know more about Indonesian batik. And yes, there are a lot of things to explore here! Since Indonesia is consisted of thousands of islands, every place has its own unique pattern, color, characteristics, and batik making techniques. So, you really should come here to learn more! 1,5 hours flight only, c’mon? :)

As far as I know, Singapore also has its own batik patterns right? My dream is to travel around Southeast Asia, find out traditional fabrics there, and publish my findings in form of a book, or a tv show :D well, nothing is impossible right?

Besides collecting fabrics, I also design clothes made of batik. My first project was with Chandani Batik, you can checkout my designs at www.chandanibatik.weebly.com. I am planning to launch my new project soon. I’ll let you know once it’s ready to launch.

Thanks and nice to know you!
