My mom is the first person I can trust when it comes to fashion, and my boyfriend is the second. Haha! Yes, my boyfriend does objectively criticizes the way I dress - all the time. If he doesn’t like it, he’ll bluntly say “you look weird” or “change your outfit please”.
One day I asked him about my outfit that he liked the most, and he said he like when I put something ethnic into my outfit. And I’m so happy to hear that, because that’s easy, no need great effort to do that :) I remember when my friend’s boyfriend said he liked to see girls in mini skirts, so then my friend had to wear mini skirts just to satisfy her boyfriend’s eyes! Sounds very silly to me.
So yeah, besides wearing ethnic accessories, batik shawl can also add ethnic look to your plain outfit! I like wearing this hand painted batik shawl from Cirebon over a white tee and short pants. I love the color too, great as summer-spring look :D
Note: I took this pic this morning, and I just realized handpainted batik looks so great on photograph. The color and the motif look beautiful as it is. It’s a bit harder to capture batik silk (sutra), because the material has some kind of pearly shine, therefore I need to retouch it a bit.
