Stephanus Hamy “Jambi to Bali” Fashion Show Review
Okay, I know I’m so late to post the review of Hamy’s fashion show “Jambi to Bali”, but better late than never, eh?
The show was held in Harris Hotel Jakarta on May 17th. The show duration took about 20minutes (since it was a single designer fashion show), and Hamy presented around 30 creations (if I’m not miscounted) both for female and male collections.
As far as I know, the materials that dominated the whole collection were tenun ikat, songket, and jumputan. Since it was his Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Hamy played with bold color palette such as red, orange, purple, turquoise, yellow, lime green, gold, magenta etc. Moreover, I could also see many accents here and there such as big collar in unique cutting, pleats, bronze & golden beads, japanese obi, corsage, embroidery, etc.
In this collections, Hamy re-created a number of “IT” blazers. Yes, blazer is his specialty! But as I said, he played with mix of colors and accents, so I didn’t get bored seeing the blazer collections at all. For the bottom, Hamy created capri pants made of tenun and songket, also full-pleated skirt made of tenun that flows perfectly below the knees. There were also a couple of long dresses but in my opinion, they weren’t as attractive and wearable as the blazers and pants.
So, here are the pics I took from the third row (I know it wasn’t the best spot, it wasn’t the best pics I could take as I am having trouble of capturing moving objects)
